Used Maserati Bora For Sale
In January 1968, Maserati started working on a mid-engine two-seat flagship after Citroen took over. It took three years to complete the project, and in March 1971, Maserati showcased Maserati Bora at Geneva Show. Maserati also launched another version of Bora later in 1973-74, and both of these variants remained in production till 1978. It's one of the most successful cars in the whole supercar history, and you can still find used Maserati Bora for sale in the USA.
Additionally, it’s also one of the most coveted supercars for collectors and car enthusiasts. If you’re one of those, you can check Maserati Bora prices, to see if it matches your budget. If it does, then it can be a great investment for the future as Maserati Bora prices still continue to grow. Let’s discuss both of the variants in detail with features and specs.
Maserati Bora 4.7 – 1971-1978: As stated earlier, Bora was the very first mid-engine two-seat road car by Maserati. It’s powered by the company’s proven 4.7 liters 90 degrees V8 engine. It’s a true supercar that completely maintains the Maserati’s primary ethos of refinement, comfort, and class. The critical acclaim that Maserati Bora received and still continue to receive speak for the power and performance that it delivers.
Giorgetto Giugiaro style Maserati Bora model in his Italdesign studio that was preferred over Pietro Frua’s mockup. The models that Italdesign provided greatly encapsulated the modern and trending design. Additionally, it was also harmonious with the other cars of the same range. Officine Padane produced the body for Maserati Bora in Modena with the five-speed ZF gearbox. Moreover, as the Maserati was working under the umbrella of a French company Citroen, it also had some of the French manufacturer’s parts such as adjustable pedal block, driver seat, pop-up headlamps, and hydraulics for brake operations. It came with 310 hp (300 hp for America) with a top speed of 162 miles per hour.
Maserati Bora 4.9 – 1974-1978: In 1974 Maserati launched another variant of Maserati Bora with a 4.9 liter, 310 hp v8 engine. It offered a top speed of 171 miles per hour. In the period of eight years, Maserati manufactured 564 Boras, and about half of them came in the 4.9 guises. Moreover, Maserati also produced a racing variant of Bora in 1973 with 430 hp when Thepenier, a French importer, requested. Later in 1978, Maserati stopped Bora's production because of the tax restriction bill and oil crises that mitigated the high-performance car market.
