Asking | ?345,000 EUR rnrnRare, late production Flaminia Sport 3C 2.8 delivered with covered headlamps and without bumpersrnItalian delivery example, has remained in Italy from newrnA timeless Lancia design and stunning colour combination that embodies the best of 1950s Italian sports car craftmanship with enhanced performancern rnrnIn true Lancia tradition, the Flaminia took its name from the eponymous Via Flaminia Roman road that stretches between Rome and the Adriatic coast. At the time of its unveiling at the Turin Auto Show in 1957, the Flaminia epitomised a suave and sophisticated 1950s Italy-not only in its name, but also in appearance, with sporting models bodied by Zagato and by Touring, both of Milan. rnrnThe Flaminia Zagato Sport shared the same shortened wheelbase as its Touring GT sister model, but the youthful Ercole Spada, chief designer at Zagato, used luscious flowing lines contrasted against a sleek coupe profile for all the attributes of the finest sports cars of the era. rnrnWhile the Double Bubble roofline characterises the Flaminia Sport's distinctive shape, its doors feature pop-out handles, and the curvaceous body includes a low, functional air scoop on the bonnet. The appealing features and sporting credentials of the model are matched by its impressive performance figures. rnrnA mere 526 examples of the Flaminia Sport and Super Sport were built between 1959 and 1967. The earliest Pre-Series examples wore covered headlights, but soon into the build cycle, covered headlights were outlawed in Italy, making these early examples highly desirable.rnrnHowever, this particular Flaminia is the exception to the rule. Produced in December 1963, a letter on file from Zagato shows that their records confirm that the car did in fact leave the factory with covered headlights, without front or rear bumpers, and with sport seats. First registered in Florence in February of 1964 with the number plate FI 241987, the car remained with its first owner for four years, the car's registration was subsequently transferred to Salerno in the ownership of Giovanni Capaldo and reregistered as SA 182510 in March of 1971. rnrnThe Flaminia remained in Capaldo's ownership for the following eighteen years and was acquired by Flavia Bulgheroni in April of 1989 but remained in her ownership for just over a year, purchased by a Franco Torzo of Bologna in October of 1990. Passing through one subsequent owner, the car was acquired by a dealer in Casalgrande in November. Purchased by an enthusiastic Italian owner in June of 1999, that same month, the car participated in the Coppa della Toscana rally. A number of years later, the car participated in a Zagato club rally in 2017 and a V-6 Lancia rally in 2018, and was acquired by the current owner in 2021. rnrnRemaining in Italy for its entire life, the car still presents beautifully today in its unique late-production specification with covered headlights and without bumpers, but has been fitted with standard seats for added comfort whilst touring. Invoices on file show that the seats were reupholstered, and new carpet was installed in 2012. Well-presented and uniquely specified as a later-production Flaminia Zagato with covered headlights, this would be an interesting addition to any collection, and a joy to drive on the open road. rnTo view this car and others currently available, please visit the RM Sotheby's website.

Displayed at the 1952 Paris Salon per the French Lancia Club Eligible for numerous events, including the Mille Miglia One of only 500 Series I B20 GTs built Groundbreaking Aluminum-Alloy V6 Engine / 4-speed manual Independent front and rear suspension Right-hand drive Coachwork by Pinin Farina   Today, Lancia is best known for its racing cars, but the Italian company actually produced some of the first road-going sports cars ever. This includes the Aurelia of the 1950s, a vehicle that was perhaps the most technically advanced in its generation. Most Lancia Aurelias were delivered as four-door sedans, but a two-door convertible and a two-door "GT" coupe were also offered. The latter two sportier versions have grown increasingly popular over time. Along with being a road-going car, they were also worthy racing competitors, finishing 2nd overall at the 1951 Mille Miglia, 1st in Class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans a month later, and a 1-2-3 finish at the 1952 Targa Florio.  In all its forms, the Aurelia had a unique design. Introduced in Berlina form in 1950, Lancia's Aurelia was a landmark post-war automobile. The first production car with a V-6 engine, and the first to come standard with radial tires, the Aurelia combined Lancia's traditional uni-body construction and sliding pillar front suspension with a rear transaxle and sophisticated, multi-link rear suspension. In opposition to the norm of Italian (and American) cars, the Aurelia was made strictly as a right-hand drive vehicle up until the production of the fourth series in 1954. This vehicle is among the few surviving examples of the initial 500 first series cars.  1951 saw the introduction of the B20 Gran Turismo, with a 1,991-cubic centimeter engine on a shorter 2,660-millimetre wheelbase. Nearly all 500 of the Series I B20s received the standard Vittorio Jano-designed GT body. The car offered here, chassis number B20-1346, is a rare example of a special design by Pinin Farina on the Series I platform. Although it shares many visual characteristics of the standard production Aurelias, this car features rare leather upholstery, a dashboard layout similar to later-series B20s, and nonstandard bumpers. Its distinctive two-color paint is elegantly delineated by a narrow molding that runs along the beltline and down and around the boot and back.  The French Lancia Club states that Chassis B20-1346, which was completed and invoiced on December 14th, 1951, appeared on the Pinin Farina stand at the 1952 Paris Salon. This would explain the car's unique French fixtures, including the battery cutout switch, Marchal lighting, Jaegar gauges, and French-made Zenith Stromberg carburetors.  In 2010 the body was stripped down to its bare metal for a glass-out repaint in its original shades of black over amaranto. United Kingdom Lancia experts Omicron replaced the rear wheel bearings, refreshed the gear linkage, rebuilt the carburettors, and rebuilt the lower half of the engine, including a new cylinder liner, re-metalling the bearings, and replacing the crankshaft. They also added bonnet vents, a larger grille, and a tailgate spoiler to improve cooling and airflow. Underneath, they upgraded the brakes with twin-piston calipers, strengthened the suspension, and added a front strut brace and a larger steering box. The Evoluzione's remapped 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four delivered 210 horsepower, breaking the 100-horsepower-per-liter mark for the first time in Delta's production history.rnrnDelivered new in December 1991 to Lancia dealer Auto 2000 in Terni, this Italian-market Evoluzione is a remarkable, unrestored example of one of the most iconic and successful rally homologation cars ever built. A San Gemini resident purchased this Evoluzione new and insisted the dealer leave all protective coverings intact. Auto 2000's dealer principal, Sandro Barcaroli, reinforced this by writing in red lipstick on the dash cover: Do not remove cellophane. Do not wash. Do not remove sponges from inside the engine bay. Kept in the original owner's family for over 30 years, the car now shows just 6,550 kilometers (~4,070 miles) and remains remarkably preserved.rnrnFinished in a beautifully understated combination of White over Green perforated Alcantara, this Evoluzione was factory-specified with an exceptionally rare list of features including Recaro seats, Bosch ABS, a Clarion head unit, air conditioning, and a split rear seat configuration. Notably, it was ordered without a sunroof, further emphasizing its performance focus.rnrnAccording to model experts, this particular car is even more special as it is one of the reported 200 true homologation examples uniquely equipped with a special-purpose water bag designed to cool the turbo intercooler during intense use-a real motorsport feature. While most of these early cars were delivered with disconnected systems, this example retains its factory-connected water bag system, with all hoses date-stamped from 1991. Mechanically, the car has just benefited from a comprehensive full service by a recognized specialist.rnrnIn every sense, this car is a true time capsule. It remains completely unrestored, with original factory markings, factory wax, and protective plastics still present on the floors and door panels. This Evoluzione even still wears its 1991 tires, underscoring its lifetime of careful preservation.
