Used Bentley Continental GTC For Sale
We remember our own moans when Bentley first confirmed a V-8 would be added to the Bentley Continental GTC for sale. With the massive Lamborghini V-10 still powering the S6 and S8 and the new twin-turbo V-8 nowhere in sight, we envisioned a terrible world of slow, subpar two-door luxury cars. Sliding in underneath the base W-12 and far underneath the Speed, which is the fastest Bentley Continental GT Convertible in the world, the V-8 is much more than we thought it would be. It’s 500- horsepower is plenty powerful, offering sporty amounts of go while still being able to drive 500 miles on a single tank of gas. It can go from zero-to-60 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 187 miles per hour on the track while bringing back 24 miles to the gallon on the highway. It retains the muscular sheet metal, four-wheel-drive system, eight-speed automatic transmission, premium hides and real wood veneers offered in the W-12s, but it brings it in at a reduced price point while improving the model line’s overall efficiency. Now that’s nothing to balk at.
Building on the changes we first saw on the coupe, the features a more sculpted body, giving it a sharper and less bulbous appearance. The grille is more upright and new headlamps offer jewel-like detailing with LED lights. At the rear, the “floating” LED lamps now extend around the corners. A new trunk design also now features a powerful “double horseshoe,” much like the Mulsanne. Twenty-inch wheels accent the strong fenders and are now standard. The Bentley convertible will also follow the Mulsanne and new GT coupe in offering 21-inch wheels from the factory.
Despite its near identical proportions, it weighs 100 pounds less than the outgoing car. Utilizing the 567-hp version of the 6.0- liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine and new faster six-speed automatic transmission (shift times are cut in half to 200 milliseconds), the company says the car will accelerate zero-to-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and top out at 195 mph. That makes it faster than the previous model and on par with Speed. A wider track, both front and rear, sharper steering, retuned suspension, and rear-wheel-bias 40:60 split in the four-wheel-drive system helps cut understeer and provide a more balanced and sporty feel.
But its not a track car and part of its allure comes from the sumptuous handcrafted cabin, including premium leather, real wood veneers, bright metals, and soft carpets. It is complemented by a multi-layered fabric top and acoustic glass for better noise isolation. The cabin also provides new storage solutions, a designed Mercedes-Benz Airscarf-mimicked neck warmer for more comfortable roof-down motoring in extreme climates, and additional rear legroom thanks to its new front chairs. A 30GB touchscreen infotainment system is being employed throughout the lineup.
