With the M1, BMW wanted to create a competitive racing car at the end of the 1970s.

The regulations demanded 400 homologated road versions within 2 years.

BMW founded BMW Motorsport GmbH specifically for the development and production. Initially, the cars cost 113,000 DM, making it the most expensive German car at the time. Until the Porsche 911 Turbo with WLS went on sale in 1983, the BMW M1 was also the fastest production car made in Germany.

Our BMW M1 is beautifully preserved in its original condition and has a total mileage of just 23,921 km.

It was first delivered in Düsseldorf in 1980 as one of a total of 103 orange-painted M1s.

The history is complete and the mileage traceable.

In 1995, a technical restoration including disassembly of the engine was carried out by the BMW branch in Munich for approx. 25,000 DM.

The BMW certificate is available and certifies matching numbers of engine and chassis.

Numerous original documents such as the manual/service booklet and the radio operating instructions are also available.
