This 1967 Chevy Chevelle Factory 138 Super Sport has a laser straight body and mirror painted finish in Bolero Red. Red interior with bucket seats and console. Retro stereo with tach and clock and a gauge package.

*1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396*Â In the world of muscle cars, there are few names that get people more excited than Chevrolet Chevelle. When you add the Super Sport 396 name to that, it elevates it to true legend status. This 1967 Chevelle SS396 is a true â138 VINâ meaning that it started life as a Super Sport, and it retains its numbers matching L35 396 ci V8. Finished in Madeira Maroon over a Gold Vinyl interior, this Chevelle was restored about 10 years ago and has been driven less than 500 miles since completion.Â The Chevelle in 1967 was the second year of a two-year only body style, before the car underwent major changes in 1968. The clean lines were in line with the new âCoke bottleâ design language that GM was implementing at the time, and 1967 received a one-year only rear end treatment with wraparound tail lights. This car presents in exceptional condition with excellent chrome-work around the car. It sits on a set of Chevroletâs famed 14-inch Rallye wheels which are wrapped in a period-correct looking set of Firestone Wide Oval redline tires.Â On the inside, the Gold vinyl interior provides an excellent contrast to the dark Maroon on the outside, and the seating situation is made up of bench seats front and rear. Slide into the driverâs seat and you are met by a 3-spoke wood and brushed metal steering wheel like you would have found in a C2 Corvette, and a large horizontal speedometer spans the dash in front of you. Off to your right side is radio integrated into the metal dashboard strip, along with HVAC controls for the factory air conditioning situated below it. As with the rest of the car, the condition is remarkable, looking like it has barely been sat in since the restoration 10 years ago.Â What really makes this Chevelle special is what sits under the hood. A numbers matching 396ci V8, producing 325 horsepower from the factory. This example has been upgraded slightly with a more modern Edelbrock 600cfm 4bbl carburetor which does a great job of staying tuned correctly and may add a bit of power. This engine then sends power through a numbers matching TH400 automatic gearbox (with a column shifter!) to the numbers matching 12-bolt rear end. The factory dual exit exhaust gives this car a fantastic sound and power steering makes it easy to drive. Additionally, this Chevelle was optioned with power disc brakes adding safety and making the car far nicer to drive in modern traffic.Â Any Chevelle is a cool car - but when you factor in that this is a real SS 396, it becomes legendary. Please email  or call 1-*number in the description*  About the Chevelle:  The Chevrolet Chevelle is a mid-sized automobile that was produced by Chevrolet in three generations for the 1964 through 1978 model years. Part of the General Motors (GM) A-body platform, the Chevelle was one of Chevrolet's most successful nameplates.  Ford released the mid-sized Fairlane in 1963, to which Chevrolet responded with the 1964 Chevelle based on a new A platform design. Riding on a 115-inch wheelbase, the new Chevelle was similar in size, simplicity, and concept to the standard-sized 1*number in the description* Chevrolet models. The Chevelle was the U.S. auto industry's only all-new car for 1964 and was positioned to fill the gap between the small Chevy II and the full-sized Chevrolet models. Introduced in August 1963 by "Bunkie" Knudsen, the Chevelle filled the gap for Chevrolet with sales of 338,286 for the year.  Originally conceived as an upsizing of the Chevy II with a unibody platform which originated with the XP-726 program, GM's "senior compact" A-platform used a body-on-frame construction using a suspension setup similar to its full sized automobiles with a 4 link rear suspension.  The Chevelle Super Sport, or SS represented Chevrolet's entry into the muscle car battle. Early 1964 and 1965 Chevelles had a Malibu SS badge on the rear quarter panel.  The Chevelle SS396 became a series of its own in 1966 with series/style numbers 13817 and 13867. The performance engines available included three, 396 CID V8s â the standard, rated at 325 HP, an optional 360 HP, and an optional 375 HP. The SS396 series lasted from 1966 through 1968 before being relegated to an option package in 1969. The 1966 and 1967 model years were the only two years of the 'strut back' 2-door sport coupe with its own style number.  1966 saw a complete restyle of the Chevelle on the previous frame that included smooth contours, a broad new grille and bumper treatment, and curved side windows. Bulging rear fender lines and a "flying buttress" roofline tunneled into the "C" pillar were highlights of the '66 hardtops. The new body reflected the "Coke bottle" body shape that became the fad for American cars in the mid-1960s.  The 1967 models received a facelift. Large wraparound taillamps went into a new rear end with standard backup lights. "What you'll see inside," claimed the sales brochure for the 1967 Chevelle, "will probably bring on a severe compulsion to go driving." Front disc brakes were available on all models, and a new dual master cylinder brake system incorporated a warning light. Chevrolet also added 14" wheels and a three speed automatic transmission to their line of transmissions. New safety equipment became standard, including a collapsible steering column. The SS396 continued as its own series with both sport coupe and convertible body styles. The 375-horsepower 396-cubic-inch V8 was dropped from the options list until late in the model year and returned with 612 being sold. Seven transmissions were available: two manual three-speeds, two manual four-speeds, an overdrive three-speed, and two automatics. The manual-shift feature of the Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission was featured. Options included Superlift air shock absorbers, Strato-ease headrests, and special instrumentation.
