Used Corvette ZR1 For Sale

The Vette, a line of sports car models associated with American speed and desirability for over 60 years, took performance to a new level in 2007 when the third Corvette ZR1 for sale emerged from the production line in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Unlike the former upgrade to the C3 and C4 platforms, the new car incorporated the wide use of carbon fiber in addition to the traditional fiberglass composite body panels. Under the modified body, aluminum was used to craft a rigid and lightweight chassis.

Under a deceptively conservative hood, a 6.2-liter LS9 supercharged V8 developing 638 hp sits in the place of the entry-level naturally aspirated LS3 power plant. With this powerful and re-engineered engine, the blown Vette is capable of demolishing a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds and achieving a top speed of 205 mph.

Selling a 2007-2014

This Vette surprised the automotive industry and enthusiasts when it set a production car record for the shortest braking distance at a scant 96 feet from 60 mph. Equipped with a six-speed manual Tremec TR-6060 transmission, the car features a flywheel lightened by 9.9 ounces for throttle and acceleration improvements.

Aesthetically, the Vette features extended front aerodynamic improvements finished in clear-coated carbon fiber and an enlarged rear spoiler. Blue badges decorate the exterior, and a transparent polycarbonate window in the hood allows a view of the “LS9 Supercharged” badge on the supercharger cover.

As a performance vehicle, the vehicle sets itself apart from its model line siblings and outside competitors when it steps onto the track. At the Nürburgring in 2012, a stock car set the 10th fastest lap time ever for a production vehicle.

While we wait for the 2014 C7 ZR1, GM has a laundry list of performance and interior refinements for the C6 ZR1 to keep customers’ interests up. A new performance package; now sits atop its performance package. It includes new wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and revised ratios for the overdrive gears. The latter helps reduce fuel consumption on the highway while the ultra-sticky wear-quickly street-legal Cup tires helped it lap the Nurburgring two seconds faster than the Dodge Viper ACR (which wears the same tires) and six seconds faster than its previous record. The Z07 performance package for the Z06 will also attain these special wheels and tires. All new models get new seats and can be ordered in a special Centennial package with an all-black color scheme and unique badging for 2012.

These changes should hold us over until a dramatically redesigned C7 appears. It will be a complete departure in terms of styling from the past two generations. GM is also spending a considerable amount of time overhauling the interior, which it considers the one chink in the current armor.
