Used Ferrari 458 Speciale For Sale

This is the result when engineers take an amazing street car, lower the weight and add horsepower. Debuted for the first time at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ferrari 458 Speciale for sale holds the title for the top performing 458 cars. The Italian builder zeroed in on two aspects to give it an edge over the Italia: power and weight. Taking a page from its Formula 1 book, engineers made some key changes to the engine design to ensure the best output and performance possible. Though the engine remains the same naturally-aspirated V8, geometric changes and the replacement of key features like pistons, along with the restructuring of elements like valve lift mean the engine functions with higher compression and reduced internal friction. These changes ensure the power of the Italian exotic. Ferrari also switched to aluminum exhaust and carbon fiber intake. These combined engine changes save a total of over 198 lbs, combining added power with impressive weight reduction. In addition, engineers enhanced the seven-speed dual-clutch, which downshifts at a rate 44 percent faster than its predecessor. In short, the "Special" is the definition of an all-around top supercar. The changes, though impressive on their own, are more impressive in practice. When it comes to performance, the 4.5-liter V8 brings in 597 hp at 9000 rpm, giving it the title of most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever created by Maranello. The supercar speeds from 0-60 mph in 3 seconds flat with a top speed of over 201 mph. As for the interior, the car takes full advantage of a minimalist approach, accentuating the essentials and eliminating the unnecessary. Alcantara upholstery covers the seats, dash, and parts of the doors. Both the door panels and seat shells are composed of carbon fiber. The combination of carbon fiber and Alcantara makes for a lighter, more breathable interior. Variations include the Aperta. The topless Aperta offers the same performance and handling with a little wind in your hair.

When Ferrari put the adjective ‘ Speciale’ in after a car as outstanding as the 458 you know it must be pretty, well, special.

Since I first drove the 458 I have maintained that it is the finest car of its genre ever made. Each and every experience was better than the last and it represents everything I think an Italian exotic car should be: amazingly fast, exotic, laden with the latest technology and a vehicle that makes you feel better about life. So how is this supercar going to improve on that?

It has more power. It’s lighter. It shifts faster. It turns in quicker. It stops in a shorter distance. It has more technology. It makes you faster. That’s quite a list of achievements, but at certain moments during my test-drive, each and everyone made an impression on me.

Upping the power from 556 to 597 horsepower may not sound like a lot, but in tandem, with the car being 200 pounds lighter you can definitely feel it when you hit the gas. And when you do, all sorts of unworldly things happen. The unmistakable wail of the Ferrari V-8 is measured by the LEDs atop the steering wheel. Those lights tell you when it’s time to shift, which you do in literally the blink of an eye. If you measure such things, you likely just went past 60 mph in less than three seconds.

Cornering at pro-driver levels is made possible by the complex side-slip control, which measures and reacts in such an impressive way that it’s almost too much for mere mortals to understand.

But feel the benefits you will. All you need to know is that the electronically controlled rear differential and the traction control are in constant communication, analyzing your driving style and levels.
