Used Ferrari 599 GTO For Sale

When special cars are built to stand the test of time, they have to have the "it factor". The fierce V12 gave this Gran Turismo Omologata a growl that lives forever. At the Beijing Auto Show in April 2010, Ferrari officially announced a Ferrari 599 GTO for sale would be available. As a road-going version of the asphalt-wrinkling 599XX, it was pitched as the fastest road-going car at the time of its production, capable of completing Fiorano’s circuit in just one minute twenty-four seconds. Producing 661 hp at 8,250 rpm and 460 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm, the V12 is capable of reaching 60 mph from a standstill in 3.0 seconds and achieves a top speed of 208 mph. With production limited to 599 cars, only 125 were produced for the US market, making it one of the rarer Italians to leave the production line. One of the interesting distinction between the 599 and the two others that have been produced is that it was not designed for homologation in any racing series.

Built from 2006 to 2012, the line represents the V12, front-engined contender in the grand tourer segment of the lineup. Powered by the Tipo F140 6.0 liter V12, this vehicle houses one of the few engines that, at the time of production, was capable of producing more than 100 hp per liter without the aid of a turbocharger or supercharger.

Improvements over the base car were derived heavily from the XX, visible in aerodynamic modifications to the front bumper, side rocker panels, rear diffuser, and flat underbelly. Other weight reduction choices are noticeable in the sparse and utilitarian interior. These adjustments have reduced drag, increased downforce significantly, and increased top speeds.

For those interested in purchasing, we have a limited selection for sale depending on availability. For those looking to add any Italian cars to their collection should look to for low mileage examples with service records up to date.

So what’s so special about this front engine V12?

For starters, it’s a Gran Turismo Omologato, a model designation Ferrari has only bestowed on two other cars in its 63- year history. Most importantly, it’s the fastest road-legal ever, and, yes, that includes the Enzo. It set a record lap time at the Fiorano test track of one minute and 24 seconds. It does zero-to-60 mph in about 3.1 seconds (a tick quicker than the Enzo’s 3.4 seconds) and claims a top speed of more than 209 mph (Enzo wins with 217 mph).

The GT car is derived from the track-only special edition 599XX but it’s definitely no badge-engineered softie. The intent was to bring street drivers a car that can handling and perform just shy of a pure track toy. The front mid-mounted V-12 puts out 671 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. If you’re keeping score at home, that’s 59 more ponies than the GTB.

The gearbox features shorter gear ratios and upshifts calibrated to match the 60 milliseconds of the 599XX. It is also 220 pounds lighter than a GTB. One of the most significant innovations is the chassis set-up, which allows the driver more leeway in approaching the handling limit and features better responsiveness with more direct steering.
