Used Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR For Sale

The Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR for sale, Italian for “redhead”, came on the scene at the 1984 Paris Auto Show as an answer to problems with Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer. The Boxer received criticism for the plumbing from the radiator heating up the cabin too much and there not being enough luggage space. The Testarossa fixed these issues and went on to become an icon of 80s retro culture appearing in numerous international films both back in the 80s and 90s as well as in recent movies.

In 1991, the improved version, the Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR, came on the scene for the 1992 model year. Its name is quite sensible, the ‘5’ is the engine’s cubic capacity in liters and it has ‘12’ cylinders. ‘TR’ comes from Testarossa. Updated internals made this car both more powerful and faster than the Testarossa, thus improving upon a car that was already a dream to drive to begin with. With a run of three years, only 2,261 Testarossa 512 TR cars were made. This makes finding a Ferrari 512 TR for sale a bit of a challenge. However, it is easier than the F512M, the final version of the Testarossa line, of which only a mere 501 cars were made. Of course, any car enthusiast would be delighted to find a 1992 Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR near them. Browse our registry to find these beautiful beasts for sale in locations all across America. You just might get lucky and find one near you!

The exterior of the 512 TR retained most of the style of the Testarossa. You’ll find the same trademark side strakes and an ultra-wide rear track and fenders. The front maintains the same pop-up headlights but the bumper was modified to a one-piece unit with vents under the daytime running lights. It also got clear turn signals and a redesigned grille with chrome slats. The designers modified the flying buttresses from the engine hood, extending them further back along with the car and eliminating the deck lid of the Testarossa. The back of the car was all modified to some extent. The finished product includes revised exhaust tips and an updated grille. The overall size of the car is virtually the same as the original Testarossa with only a 0.2-inch difference in length. The new suspension system also drops the car to ride 0.2 inches lower.

The engine received the most updates, improving upon the Testarossa in both speed and power. Drivers enjoy 428 horsepower and 362 pound-feet of torque. The 512 TR can sprint from 0-60 in a mere 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 195 mph. Flying along the open road in a 1993 Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR is the stuff that dreams are made of.
