Used Ferrari F50 For Sale

If we can surmise anything from recent auto auctions, it’s that people early anticipate seeing a Ferrari F50 for sale. To celebrate half a century building the world’s most sought-after cars, Ferrari produced the F50 from 1995 to 1997. As a successor to the F40, it was essentially an F1 car with a street-legal body. It was the most extensive use of carbon fiber to date, which gave it a weight of 2,712 lbs. The engine was a naturally aspirated V12 originally designed for IMSA racing. Bored and stroked to 4.7 liters, it was packed with expensive technology. The intake is carbon fiber and has variable length runners for maximum low-end torque. Titanium rods and a forged crank allowed for 513 horsepower at a screaming 8,000 rpm.

Torque was measured at 347 lb-ft, which was a nice achievement in the 90’s. The carbon fiber monocoque had inboard suspension upfront, and the engine block was the mounting for the transmission and rear suspension. For reasons we might never know, only 349 cars were built. All were roadsters with a removable hardtop. When not in place, it was to be stored in a giant red “circus box” that accompanies each car. Power steering and ABS were not offered, but A/C and manual windows were a curious combination. Five colors gave collectors something to fight over. Sadly the F50 will be the last Ferrari supercar built with a manual transmission. If you need an incredibly rare daily driver, a used F50 is probably a sound investment. At the dealer, the Ferrari F50 price was around $530,000. Looking at the auction price of its successor and predecessor, the cost will pay for itself in a few years.
