Used Porsche Boxster For Sale

Out of a period characterized tumult and adversity for famed car maker Porsche rose the Porsche Boxster for sale. The brand’s first roadster since the 550 Spyder more than 40 years prior. The 986 brought the company back to life and with that new life, an unmatched, loyal consumer following. The Spyder offers enhanced performance complete with 375 horsepower and 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Looking for legendary? The S has a history dating back to the 1950’s. Inspired by the 550 Spyder, the S features the “heartbeat” of the 550 Spyder—a four-cylinder horizontally opposed engine—with a little turbocharged flair. Flaunt your fun side with the fast and stunning GTS. With an enhanced, handsome exterior and a little extra power under the hood, the GTS will compliment any collection. Whichever car best fits your personality, we have it here.

If you thought all true Porsches have a rear engine layout, the Porsche convertible begs for your consideration. If you like your engine behind the cockpit but in front of the axles, you need to look for a used Boxster for sale. As an alternative to their flagship 911 series, the Boxster Spyder is a light and nimble convertible.

Handling is where the sports car sets itself apart from the competition. For optimal grip on the track, the engine is mounted just behind the cockpit instead of behind the rear wheels. By keeping the center of gravity near the axis of rotation, the car is not afraid of holding off-camber corners. Driving this roadster is an experience, unlike any other production car. You will not approach its limits on public roads, and body roll is almost non-existent.

Introduced in 1996, the first generation was internally known as Typ 986. It was initially powered by a 201 horsepower 2.5 liter flat six engine coupled to a manual or Tiptronic automatic transmission. For those needing more power, the Boxster S debuted in 1999 with a 3.2-liter engine. With a few minor revisions, the first generation was produced until 2004.

A bold new Boxster was introduced in 2004. “Type 987” was the second generation of the Spyder. The styling was a departure from the previous model and helped the model stand apart from its larger stable mate. Power came from several flat six engines, with displacements ranging from 2.7 liters to 3.4 liters. A subtle refresh in 2008 included innovations ranging from direct fuel injection to a seven-speed dual clutch automatic. The Tiptronic single clutch automatic was discontinued. In an effort to reduce interior clutter, the Porsche Communication Management System was one of the first touch screens to incorporate suspension and infotainment systems.

The second generation ended in early 2012 to make way for a new model. The third generation is known internally as 981 and debuted with a 40% stronger chassis. Third time was indeed a charm, as the small car that was once derided by the press turned into a smashing success for the brand. Several special editions made use of high-performance engines for the ultimate in mid-engine motoring.

Announced in mid-2016, the 981 series was discontinued and the car was given a facelift. In the name of fuel economy, the flat six engines were also dropped in favor of turbocharged four-cylinder power. The new Porsche was christened the 718 and it arrived with 2.0 liter and 2.5 liter flat fours.

If you are looking for a used Boxster, a few considerations must be made. Because the engine is located under the rear package tray, you won’t be performing any maintenance from above. Service costs will be higher due to the exotic design, so make sure a complete history is included. The "S" will also retain a higher resale value in addition to being more fun to drive. As always, contact our dealers for more info to find the car that is right for you.

All new for 2015 is the addition of the GTS to the lineup. Sitting at the top of the range, the GTS gained considerably more power and Porsche’s Active Suspension Management System for the new year. Rated at 330 horsepower, nearly 120 more than the base model, and 273 foot-pounds of torque, the Boxster GTS becomes the car that it always should have been. By no means is the base sports car a slouch in the corners, but you always got the sense that there was so much more potential to be had from a mid-engine sports car. The Boxster has been touted as one of this generation’s best driver’s cars; the GTS goes even further to highlight that accolade. If you prefer three pedals, the GTS offers a six-speed manual in addition to the PDK automatic. Black 20-inch Carrera wheels and smoked daytime running lights combined with the gaping air intakes make the GTS as sleek and sophisticated as they come. Fully loaded, the GTS is several thousand dollars less than a bare bones 911, and it’s ready to hit the track.
