Used Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet For Sale

Not many manufacturers will offer a convertible version of their flagship supercar, so that is why the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet for sale is quite an achievement. When the Porsche 911 Turbo debuted in 1975, the factory received several requests for a convertible. Simply removing the roof on such a powerful car wouldn't be safe, so the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet arrived with chassis reinforcements. The most collectible examples are the "G-model" which were built between 1987 to 1989. They serve as a proper sendoff for the first generation of the Porsche 911, and driving one is a blast from the past.

The next 911 Turbo Cabriolet arrived in 1995. The 964 series was the first new chassis since 1966, and engineer Hans Mezger endowed it with a 3.6-liter engine and a larger turbo. It was rated at 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. This made the 911 Turbo Cab one of the fastest cars on the market. Only 14 examples are known to survive, and each one carries a hefty price tag. From here the turbo cabriolet took a sabbatical.

Technology advanced at a rapid pace, so the next 911 turbo cabriolet for sale debuted in 2007. Another complete redesign, it was one of the fastest convertibles for sale. It arrived with permanent all-wheel drive and twin variable geometry turbos. The 3.6-liter was rated at 473 horsepower and 502 lb-ft of torque. Easily capable of reaching 60 mph in under 4 seconds, the top speed was set at 193 mph. This one model raised the bar for the automotive industry. Never before was such a powerful car designed without a roof. This ensured the qualities of a coupe with the ability to go topless.

An all-new engine and several upgrades were introduced on the 2010 911 turbo cabriolet. This 3.8-liter flat-six made 493 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It had a dry-sump oil system with direct fuel injection. Above 30 mph, the rear spoiler deploys to signal your intentions. Lesser cars take this as a threat and scurry away.

The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet was a new car with an updated engine. It offers 552 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque sent to all wheels. A big change was the loss of the manual transmission. Porsche says the car was too powerful for a manual gearbox to handle. It only takes 3.1 seconds to reach 60 mph, with a top speed of 196 mph.

It does not matter which Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet you choose. They represent the flagship model for an iconic brand. With values for the early examples reaching into the millions, the time is now to find a collectible cabriolet for your collection.
