The 4.6-liter gas engine charges the lithium-ion batteries when the vehicle is underway, and the process continues as you turn into the corners through regenerative braking. When parked, the batteries can be recharged over the period of two hours via a plug-in charger accessed through the passenger side B-pillar.

This includes ceramic wheel bearings, magnesium wheels, a lighter brake design, and titanium bolts for the chassis. Weight is also saved by eliminating paint in favor of a thin film coating on the body.
