Turbo technology was improving by leaps and bounds in the mid-90s. It was becoming clear that Porsche could build a 911 twin-turbo without the reputation of the “widowmaker”. It was known internally as project 727, in reference to the ‘Ring lap record of the Nissan GT-R. Examples of the first generation of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS have brought record numbers from collectors and dealers. That is because they will dominate almost everything on the track or street.

We learned about the 2nd Generation 2018 Porsche GT2 RS early in 2017. It is based on the 991.2 generation Porsche 911 and uses a twin-turbo 3.8 liter flat-six.
